How to migrate WordPress

Migrating your WordPress site doesn’t have to be a hassle. With the Migrate Guru plugin, you can easily transfer your website to a CloudStick with Zero downtime. Here’s a step-by-step guide to make the migration process as smooth as possible.

Step 1: Install and Activate Migrate Guru

Start by installing the Migrate Guru plugin on your source WordPress website. Once installed, activate the plugin to begin the migration process.

Step 2: Start Migration

Navigate to the Migrate Guru option in the WordPress dashboard’s left-hand side menu. Enter your email address to receive updates on the migration status. With your email in place, click the ‘Migrate’ button to proceed.

Step 3: Select Your Host

On the next screen, choose the ‘Other Hosts’ option to specify your new hosting details.

Step 4: Provide Host Details

Choose ‘Manually Input Host Details’ to enter the specific details of your new hosting environment.

Step 5: Enter Migration Details(CloudStick)

Carefully fill out the required fields with the appropriate details of the website you’re migrating according to your CloudStick Account summary page:

  • URL: Enter the full URL of the site you wish to migrate (e.g., https://domain.com).
  • SFTP Selection: Make sure to select the SFTP option for a secure file transfer.
  • Server IP: Input your CloudStick server IP address.
  • SFTP Username: You can find this on your Account Summary page or welcome email hosting account.
  • SFTP Password: Retrieve this from the welcome email received during your WordPress installation and if you are not sure about the SFTP password, go to the account settings and reset the password to enter here.
  • Root Path: Also located in the account summary, input the root path (e.g., /home/shoprcenter/apps/app-shop).

Step 6: Begin the Migration

After filling out all the necessary fields, click on the ‘Migrate’ button at the bottom of the page to initiate the transfer of your website.

Migrate Guru will take it from here, moving your WordPress site to the CloudStick with the precision and efficiency you need. Sit back, relax, and wait for the migration to complete.
